What Is IBAN?

IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a standardized international format for bank account numbers, designed to streamline cross-border payments. An IBAN consists of:

  • Country Code (2 letters): ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country identifier (e.g., “GB” for United Kingdom, “FR” for France).
  • Check Digits (2 numbers): Calculated via the MOD-97-10 algorithm to validate the IBAN’s integrity.
  • BBAN (up to 30 alphanumeric): Basic Bank Account Number, containing domestic bank routing codes and your local account number.

IBANs reduce errors and delays in international wire transfers by ensuring that every account number is globally unique and structurally correct.

What Is a Fake IBAN Generator?

A Fake IBAN Generator is an online tool that produces realistic-looking, but entirely fictitious, IBANs. Developers, testers, and educators use these mock IBANs to:

  • Validate form inputs without risking real funds.
  • Populate test databases with sample data.
  • Demonstrate IBAN format rules in training or documentation.

Note: All IBANs generated by this tool are random and bear no connection to real bank accounts. Attempting to process payments with them will fail.

How Does the Fake IBAN Generator Work?

Our generator follows the IBAN construction rules for each country, then applies the checksum algorithm to produce valid-format numbers. Here’s how it works in five steps:

  1. Select Country: Choose the target country, which determines your IBAN’s length and BBAN structure.
  2. Generate BBAN: Create a random bank identifier and account number segment matching that country’s format (e.g., eight-digit BLZ + ten-digit account for Germany).
  3. Compute Check Digits: Temporarily set the check digits to “00,” move the country code and check digits to the end of the string, convert letters to numbers (A=10, B=11, …), and perform a mod-97 calculation to find the correct two-digit checksum.
  4. Assemble IBAN: Combine the country code, computed check digits, and BBAN to form the final IBAN (e.g., DE42123456780123456789).
  5. Output & Copy: Display your new IBAN(s) and allow one-click copying for inclusion in test scripts or documentation.

Use Cases for Fake IBAN Generation

1. Software & API Testing

Populate payment forms, API endpoints, and database tables with structurally correct IBANs to verify validation logic without risking real transactions.

2. Developer Education

Teach the IBAN format and checksum process in coding bootcamps, university courses, and internal training sessions using live examples.

3. QA & QA Automation

Automate end-to-end testing of financial workflows by injecting random IBANs into scripts and verifying that error handling and reporting behave as expected.

4. Prototype & Demo Environments

Build proof-of-concept apps or UI mockups that require realistic account numbers, ensuring demos look polished and professional.
